A TASTE FOR SCANDAL
Genre: Regency Period, Historical Romance, England
As satisfyingly sweet as one of the heroine’s cakes, Knightley’s delightful and charming romance is both tender and adorable. Readers who can suspend their disbelief and assume that love can cross class lines with ease will discover an engaging tale that tempts the palate, as much as the heart, with its recipes and mother-to-daughter letters. Certainly a book that’s a holiday treat.
Jane Bunting is proud to support herself and her brother, running a small bakery. She has little time to dream about love. Then Lord Raleigh comes into her shop. Richard Moore, Earl of Raleigh, lives the life of a dissolute aristocrat. The delightful Miss Bunting resists his charms, but he is not immune to her delectable scones and buttery rolls. Determined to make Jane see him in a different light, Richard asks for a baking lesson. As they toil over a hot stove, the temperature rises and love comes to a boil. The huge difference in their stations prevents Jane from even thinking about the future, but not Richard. He wonders if he can convince her that true love is worth any scandal.
