TASTES OF LOVE AND EVIL

Tastes of Love and Evil starts out well enough with an interesting pair. However, Juma spends most of the story whining, running away and refusing to trust almost everyone, which starts to weigh down the story. The mystery and danger of the plot sizzle out a bit at the end, leaving the feeling that much more could have been at stake — no pun intended.

Rose Fairburn is a vampire whose very nature draws men to her —not for love, but for sex. Jack Tallis’ past prevents him from truly opening himself up to the real Rose. Thrown together as they run from men seemingly out for their lives, they must learn to trust each other. Making matters harder is a young girl named Juma, who is hiding out from her grandmother. The trio will find that outward appearances aren’t quite what they seem, and even the dirtiest of secrets can be hidden under a lovely exterior. (LOVE SPELL, Sep., 336 pp., $7.99)
