TEAR YOU APART
This is a love story — but don’t expect the usual HEA. Elisabeth is a woman who unabashedly goes after what she wants without regret, because it’s what makes her genuinely happy — something that this reviewer finds admirable. Hart’s depictions of a marriage falling apart and a woman who has it all, but doesn’t have it all together, are strikingly realistic, and hot sex scenes combined with deft prose make this a fantastic story that will stick with readers.
Elisabeth Amblin appears to have it all — a gorgeous home in the suburbs, a hardworking husband, beautiful twin daughters and a fabulous job at her best friend’s art gallery. Except, she doesn’t. Her children are grown and out of college and her loveless marriage has gone cold, but Elisabeth isn’t sure she can create a new life at 45 — until she meets photographer Will Roberts. Although their affair awakens a sexual energy within Elisabeth that has long been dormant, Will has his own double life and their circumstances are less than perfect. Through her affair and some long, hard soul-searching, Elisabeth must decide her future — even if it means starting over completely. (MIRA, Sep., 304 pp., $14.95)
