Jed Hale needs help. Playing Temporary Dad (3) to his sister's infant triplets is wearing on him, until Annie Harnesberry comes to the rescue. Jed and his new neighbor road-trip in search of the babies' missing mother. Despite an instant physical attraction, Annie is wary of Jed's controlling ways. Will baggage from past relationships block true love? Laura Marie Altom relies too heavily on "technical difficulties" that prevent Jed from communicating with his sister, and 21st-century readers may find this hard to swallow. But roadside attractions provide comic relief, and the ending is sweet and satisfying.
