Welfonder’s second installment in the Highland Warriors trilogy is even better than the first! This finely crafted, highly emotional romance is populated by heroes whose lives are defined by the concept of honor and strong-willed heroines who don’t accept surrender as a possibility. Intricately woven into history and legends is a sensual love story. All these elements combine to create an incredible read.

The Glen of Many Legends is home to three clans. With a history of vicious battles between them the king has mandated they cease fighting and share the glen. The sisters of the three lairds have formed a secret pact where each will wed a member of an opposing clan to bring about peace. Lady Isobel Cameron had fallen in love with Kendrew Macintosh and is determined to win his love. The Macintosh clan clings to the old ways and lives on a particularly harsh area of the glen. Unfortunately for Kendrew, Lady Isobel also believes in the old ways and revels in appalling weather. On the night of the summer solstice she sneaks into his home to seduce him during the celebrations. Kendrew, known for his battle skills and ability to shift into a Highland berserker at will, has no use for marriage until he kisses Isobel and finds a woman whose passion matches his own. What begins as a sexually charged flirtation becomes a battle for survival against unknown enemies. The tumultuous and violent climax cements his love for Isobel. (FOREVER, Aug., 416 pp., $7.99)
