Wow. That single word sums up this outstanding thriller about a normal guy pitched into extraordinary circumstances. You won’t be able to stop reading. This is so well written, you’ll also feel Patrick’s fear and no doubt will wonder if this could happen to any of us. Don’t miss this one.

Patrick’s life has derailed. An English teacher turned screenwriter, his service to the production company he was working for was terminated, and now he’s teaching again. His relationship with his wife is on the rocks. When a DVD falls out of his paper one morning, he discovers it’s a video of him brushing his teeth in his own bathroom, taken from outside, looking in. There’s no message with the DVD, no indication of why he’s being watched. Soon more DVDs arrive. Even in the privacy of his home, he’s not alone anymore. (ST. MARTIN'S, Jul., 368 pp., $24.99)
