Book Review

THE THIEF
by Fuminori Nakamura

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery

RT Rating

This is Nakamura’s first book to be translated into English. There is a pervading air of sadness throughout the book, and despite the internal monologue running throughout, the characters seem remote. It is an interesting picture of life at a certain level.

The Thief is a professional pickpocket. He is good at what he does to the extent that there is little thrill left. He has no family or friends. Then he is offered what would seem to be an easy job, but a simple job of stealing papers leads to death. Now the Thief is being hunted. (SOHO, Mar., 224 pp., $23.00)
