THREE MONTHS IN FLORENCE
A wonderful word tour of Italy makes it easy to picture its beauty and feel like one is there. The death of a marriage is sad and the way husband Alex handles it tends to make one quite sympathetic with the actions of the heroine, though Lena’s impulses are a bit outlandish.
When Lena and Alex Wallace got married, they planned to honeymoon in Florence, Italy. Sixteen years later, it’s Alex who goes alone to teach at the American university there, leaving Lena behind with their two children. One semester becomes two. Then, the day Alex is to return home, Lena finds out about Alexandria, the young Italian woman Alex has been living with. Determined to win her husband back, Lena packs up the kids and the dog and heads to Italy. Once there she struggles to come to terms with the fact that the Lena and Alex who were so in love 16 years ago are no more, especially after she meets Alexandria’s young and extremely attractive boyfriend.
