THRONE OF THE CRESCENT MOON
by Saladin Ahmed

Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy

RT Rating

Set in a well-detailed and historically thick culture, perhaps the most compelling piece of this tale is the richness of the environment, how well Ahmed has brought to life the town of Dham-sawaat, and the societal mores of the characters. Although the characters are given depth and realistic voices, the reader might find it difficult to truly empathize with any of them, perhaps with the exception of Dr. Adoulla. A compelling read well worth picking up.

As the only ghul hunter left in the great city of Dhamsawaat, Dr. Adoulla Makhslood grows weary of ghul slaying. However, the number of ghuls seems to be increasing, and Adoulla must fight more often, with his still young apprentice, Raseed, at his side. The sudden increase in ghuls is due to dark and bloody magics, and Adoulla must find and fight this new threat that looms over his beloved city and threatens his entire kingdom.
