Darci Cunningham thinks her life has ended with the death of her husband. They had achieved their dream by moving to Mackinac Island, but now this idyllic place has become a lonesome and bitter reality for this 39-year-old mother of two.

To deal with her considerable grief, Darci begins to write again. However, her muse is not cooperating. It's only after she meets photographer Tyler Landston that she's able to set words to page and find hope in her heart once more. Tyler has spent most of his life alone. When the beautiful and untouchable Darci enters his life, he is blown away by the pull she has on his emotions. And when he least expects it, he discovers he's not too old to fall in love.

Johnson's nostalgic novel deals with grief, hopelessness and the reawakening of love. Both Darci and Tyler behave like real folks when faced with life's problems and surprises. (Oct., 230 pp., $4.00)
