Book Review

by Sally John, Gary Smalley

Genre: Inspirational, Mainstream

RT Rating

John and Smalley's collaboration is a cohesive novel about the need for healing in relationships. Unfortunately, this follow-up to A Time to Mend introduces far so many issues that none of them are explored thoroughly. Addressing only the surface doesn't allow the reader to become emotionally invested in the characters. Yet, overall, it is a meaningful read.

Max and Claire Beaumont have come back from the brink of divorce and hope to renew their vows with their stronger relationship. But their adult children continue to struggle with problems. All four children, especially Eric and Lexi, are facing trials in their lives that may send them to the breaking point. Can the family join together, or will they continue to suffer the consequences of their past choices? (THOMAS NELSON, Oct., 320 pp., $14.99)
