TIME RAIDERS: THE SLAYER (4) by Cindy Dees: Sent back to 480 B.C. Persia to recover another piece of the Karanovo Stamp, psychic Time Raider Tessa Marconi meets a slave named Rustam. Called the shapeshifter of Halicarnassus by his mistress, Rustam possesses some abilities that cause Tessa to believe he may be an alien. But when he helps her escape from some generals' sons, she decides to trust him. Tessa falls in love with Rustam, only to learn that he is Lord Commander Rustam Fisoli d'Antonus, first navigator of the Fifth Merchant Fleet of the Centaurian Federation, enemies of Earth. Dees' novel is fast-paced, nonstop action from beginning to end. The story is fun and well written, and the Time Raider falling in love with the enemy adds a nice touch.
