TORTALL AND OTHER LANDS
by Tamora Pierce

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Anthology

RT Rating

Although a handful of these stories have appeared elsewhere, this is definitely worth picking up. Devoted fans who wondered about minor characters in Tortall, or those curious about Pierce’s writing abilities outside of her fictional universe, will all be thoroughly pleased. Whether you enjoy meeting up with old literary friends or making new ones, this collection has something for everyone! Simply put, it’s outstanding.

What happens to Aly after Dove takes the throne? What was life like for Kit, Daine’s adopted dragon? And can math be its own kind of magic?

Outside of Tortall, Pierce takes readers to the darker side of a posh New York prep school, the life of a wandering priestess who shows her people what the male priests refuse to preach and a universe where dragons choose when to grow up. Drawing on her own life experiences, Pierce also takes us into a home for troubled foster girls. (RANDOM HOUSE, Feb., 400 pp., $18.99, ISBN: 9780375866760, HC, 12 & Up)
