RT Rating

After a slow start Marlowe’s sensual romance will capture readers’ attention. The light paranormal elements add an interesting dimension to the plot and the well-developed characters enhance the reader’s enjoyment.

Julianne Tyndale, Dowager Countess of Cambourne, needs help finding a missing ceremonial dagger. Securing the dagger will give her the freedom she craves and prevent her dependency on an earl. Jacob Aubrey Preston is a rogue, but he is recommended as someone who can find anything. He has a strange affinity for metals. They “speak” to him, and as in this case, daggers tend to have a nasty history he’d like to avoid.

Julianne convinces him to help her, though she resists their mutual attraction. But Jacob can be very persuasive. There is someone else hunting for the dagger, someone who believes it will give them untold power. The search brings them together, but there is danger everywhere. (BRAVA, Mar., 320 pp., $14.00)
