Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

UF rising star Meding offers up the first book in a new series with her twist on the world of superheroes. A devastating war between the Ranger Corps and the Banes nearly destroyed all the Metas. This story follows the journey of a young woman finding her place in a world that is about to grow much more treacherous. Meding sets a dark tone and packs in plenty of action and high-stakes thrills. A great start for an exciting series!

The great war between Meta factions of the Rangers and the Banes came to a violent head when Trance was just 10. It abruptly ended when all the Metas’ superpowers disappeared and Banes leader Specter was locked up. The only Ranger survivors were a handful of children/teens, and now 15 years later, their powers abruptly return. For Trance, however, her returning powers are different than before. Scarily, if the powers has returned, so have the Banes, which means that Specter is a threat once more. Now Trance and her fellow Rangers must learn to work together if they are to survive attempts to destroy them. (POCKET, Nov., 384 pp., $7.99)
