When museum curator Annie Miller convinces treasure hunter and marine salvager Jake Rawlings that she knows where the shipwreck he's been hunting for years is located, he hires her to lead him to it. What Jake doesn't know is that Annie has her own reasons for finding it: She wants to return the cursed jeweled cross she believes caused her parents' deaths. Helen Brenna's Treasure (4.5) is chock-full of exciting story, fascinating description and colorful language. Brenna doesn't make the mistake of making her characters perfect. Both Annie and Jake have issues with which they're trying to come to grips.
