Joe Ripani is an adventure-seeking fire captain who doesn't do long-term relationships. Lisa Malloy is a conservative veterinarian looking for marriage and family. Although their past romantic attachment sparked heat more intense than a four-alarm fire, day-to-day reality doused the flames of their passion. When an earthquake reunites them, Joe and Lisa must come together to see if they can share
one goal and one future. Debra Webb's Tremors (3) is a smoothly written tale with enjoyable characters and several emotional scenes late in the novel. Although the initial setup feels a bit contrived, and the conflict is frequently one-sided, the protagonists are warm, and their close-knit community is delightful.
