A TRICK OF THE LIGHT
Penny’s characters are sharply drawn, realistically complicated and heartbreakingly real. Wonderful, complex characters and sophisticated plotting makes this a perfect book. Do not miss it.
Artist Clare Morrow has been chosen for a one-woman show at the Musée in Montreal, but before she even can read the reviews, a dead body is found in her garden. The dead woman was once Clare’s best friend but the relationship ended in bitterness and pain and she can’t even pretend she didn’t hate her. Chief Inspector Gamache finds himself investigating someone he likes and admires. There is also tension with his second in command, who has not recovered emotionally from an earlier shooting.
