TRICK MY TRUCK BUT DON'T MESS WITH MY HEART

Author(s):

With her honest and comical writing voice, McLane brings us a spunky new heroine. Readers who enjoy quirky Southern characters will especially appreciate the collection of locals in Pinewood, Ky. The goofy relationship between the heroine and her twin is great, and while the conflict between protagonists is a little light, the hero distracts us with his sexiness and likability.

After two years away, Candie Montgomery returns to her tiny hometown to help out her family's used-car business. But she's considered the town pariah. Her twin sister claims her broken engagement is the result of her ex's friendship with Candie.

Trying to restore order and harmony -- and to keep the gossips' tongues from wagging -- Candie decides to snag herself a temporary boyfriend. She chooses cowboy Tommy Tucker, or rather, he chooses her. Candie is truthful with him about her need for pretense, but her feelings for Tucker get stronger than expected, and the secrets she's kept from him might wreck the best relationship she's ever had.
