FBI special agent Nate Murtaugh is called in after a flag reportedly sewn by Betsy Ross is destroyed. While investigations are on to discover what happened and to find a potential 8-year-old witness, Nate is assigned to tracking down the first flag ever made by Betsy Ross. He has 15 days to locate it to avoid a national scandal.

Unfortunately, Nate can't forget the face of the 8-year-old boy who has been missing since the trouble at the museum. He almost blows his assignment completely when he confronts antiques dealer Ellie Littlefield, a woman he knows was at the site moments before the little boy went missing.

Immediately rubbing Ellie the wrong way, Nate is shocked when he discovers he needs her assistance to move forward. When something happens to prove Ellie needs him as well, the two form an uneasy alliance.

The talented writing team of Jim and Nikoo McGoldrick, writing as Jan Coffey, demonstrate their skill for painting vivid pictures with their words. With quick pacing and razor-sharp dialogue, this exciting political thriller is one that readers will fly through. (Jul., 400 pp., $6.50)
