TRUE LOVE (AND OTHER LIES)

Author(s):

Claire Spencer, a 32-year- old travel writer for Sassy Seniors, is traveling from New York to London when she meets Jack on her flight. An American attorney who now lives in London, Jack is an attractive, available man, and Claire is pleasantly surprised when he expresses his desire to see her when they reach London.

There's just one slight problem: Jack informs Claire that he must end his lackluster relationship with his current girlfriend before he dates Claire—and Claire is shocked when she discovers the identity of his ex. As Claire's relationship with Jack heats up, they engage in a transatlantic romance that's complicated by Claire's reluctance to tell her best friend about her relationship with Jack.

With captivating charm and wit, Gaskell offers a lighthearted look at the complex nature of friendships and romances. Readers will cheer for Claire, a likeable character who discovers that a woman can be sexy and desirable even without a perfect body. (Sep., 373 pp., $12.00)
