Life has delivered a number of devastating blows to Rachel and Sam McRae. The latest is the loss of a foster child they both wanted to adopt. Their once wonderful marriage has become a shell of its former self and Sam is pondering the once unthinkablemoving out.

In previous years, Christmas has been celebrated with joy and warmth, but this year the McRaes have even forgotten to decorate. When Aunt Miriam, a social worker, turns up unexpectedly with three children in tow, initially neither Sam nor Rachel want the responsibility. However, if Rachel and Sam cant care for them, 11-year old Emma, 5-year old Zach and Baby Grace will be separated.

Rachel and Sam are forced to set aside their own problems and focus on bringing Christmas to these kids.
