TWO SERPENTS RISE
Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy
Gritty fantasy has always held a special place in this reviewer’s heart, and Two Serpents Rise more than fits the bill. Caleb is the perfect shadowy hero; he despises his father’s religion and sacrifice and has opted for a somewhat more staid career path as a risk manager. Add a spicy and very clever cliff runner (think a seriously crazy woman who literally runs on cliffs!) and Caleb has his hands full. Mal is a lovely and devilish heroine, whose wit and unusual job are sure to appeal to readers. Newcomers and fans of the series alike will enjoy the mystery, demon-caused mayhem and fast-moving plot in this stellar, engaging read.
Caleb Altemoc is a professional risk manager, which means he assesses what his bosses at Red King Consolidated consider potential hazards. His current assignment is to cleanse the city’s water, which someone has poisoned, and his first suspect is a cliff runner who gives him the slip. Oh, and he also has a demon infestation to worry about and the fact that his father, a priest of an arcane religion and leader of a terrorist organization, may have something to do with the poisoning.
