The premise of this story is great: A woman recovering from breast cancer learns to feel good about herself. Unfortunately, the promise isn't fulfilled. What could have been an emotional story doesn't touch deeply enough. The short-story length limits the development of the characters and theme.

Ty McQuire sees a beautiful woman sitting in his usual place at the bar and strikes up a conversation. Charlee Bannister tells him she's in town to see a plastic surgeon. Their attraction is immediate, and when Ty learns that Charlee wants reconstructive surgery because she feels inadequate, he sets out to prove her wrong. (LYRICALPRESS.COM, dl $2.50)
