This military erotica will hold readers’ attention from the first page. The stories have an unusual overlap, so it feels like one book versus two short stories. There is more plot development and deeper emotion than in typical erotica, but the author doesn’t sacrifice the heat. Calhoun’s writing style can be stiff, which makes some of the emotional scenes seem a bit cold; however, this is a solid read that will make you appreciate the Marines for a whole new reason.

Ty Hendricks and Sean Winthrop are at crossroads in their lives. Ty is dealing with horrors he encountered on his last tour of duty, while Sean is trying to figure out how to win back the woman he left behind when he was deployed. Heroines Lauren and Abby must deal with warriors in the battle for love. (HEAT, Mar., 304 pp., $15.00)
