Book Review

THE UNDEAD POOL
by Kim Harrison

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

With her exceptional Hollows series nearing the end, Harrison delivers some amazing major payoffs and throws new wrenches into the life of day-walking demon Rachel Morgan. For those who have followed this series from the beginning, the arc of Rachel’s life and of her relationships has been riveting and trouble-laden, but that ride has been well worth it, as some of those plot threads are definitely beginning to coalesce. Huge kudos, as Harrison really nails this one!

Rachel had hoped that after saving the Ever After, her life could calm down a little … but fat chance of that happening. When magic spells start to backfire or go awry, Rachel is horrified to realize that wild magic could be leaking from her ley line. In an additional frightening twist, all the head vampires of Cincinnati seem to be dead asleep and, freed from the control of their masters, vampire insurrection is on the rise. With all this going on, the truce between Inderlanders and humans is collapsing. The remedy could involve ancient elven wild magic … but the cost would be high.
