Gunn’s new Hideaway series is fantastic. The Hawaiian setting places the reader in the center of the tale. A meaningful spiritual message and thoughtful characters elevate this novel a step above the rest.

Carissa and Richard are enjoying their empty nest, yet life isn’t quite as Carissa imagined. She’s laid off and Richard’s job takes him away from home so much that Carissa feels she’s coming in second to his clients. When she’s offered a chance to retreat to Maui for a couple of weeks, she jumps on it in order to think about the direction her life, marriage and relationship with God are heading.
