UNDERCOVER STRANGER (4) by Pat White: Former schoolteacher Ciara O'Malley is running her grandmother's doll museum when she's attacked by a masked man, then kidnapped by undercover agent Griffin Black, who suspects her of running a smuggling operation. Though Griff becomes slowly convinced of Ciara's innocence, that doesn't mean he can stop looking for the electronic chips that could lead to another 9/11. First, though, he has to keep the pretty teacher alive long enough to get her into witness protection -- and that's not going to be easy with someone always one step ahead of them. This is great escapist fiction, with a last-person-you'd-suspect shocker and a mystery that unfolds like a snapping flag.
