Many things can happen when two people come together for the first time. In Merrillee Whren's An Unexpected Blessing (4.5), the catalyst is a baby boy. Dori Morales is named guardian when her sister and brother-in-law are killed. After only weeks, Dori already feels as if she's the baby's mother. Chase Garrett, her brother-in-law's half-sibling, is at the reading of the will. Dori learns much about the estrangement of the male members of this family and also that Chase isn't going anywhere, especially since he wants to get to know baby Jacob. For readers who enjoy a strong family story, and one that grows as a result of faith, this book will be a delight.
