Unforgiven (4), by Lindsay McKenna, introduces wrongly imprisoned Reno Manchahi, whose life since the murder of his wife and daughter has been a nightmare. When he accepts an offer of freedom if he hunts down El Espanto, a modern-day Robin Hood who's been killing guards at an Ecuadorean mine, Reno knows that his destiny will somehow be linked with the beautiful woman who's been visiting his dreams. As soon as she meets Reno, Calen knows he's there for her, but whether her destiny is life or death remains to be seen. These two heroic characters intrigue from the first page. And McKenna does an excellent job of developing the mythology surrounding both Reno's and Calen's special powers while building their love story. This is an absorbing debut for the Nocturne line.
