Private eye Louis Kincaid returns to the Michigan home of his foster parents
at the request of his foster father, Phillip. For 16 years, Phillip has been tending the grave of a woman he loved before he met and married his wife. When the coffin must be moved, and it turns out there's no body inside, Phillip asks Louis to find out what happened to the missing woman.

Louis learns that the woman, Claudia DeFoe, was committed to a nearby mental facility, Hidden Lake. Hidden Lake is now closing its doors and relocating files when its final resident, Charlie, discovers the body of a murdered young woman. Police charge him with the crime, but Louis isn't convinced that Charlie committed the brutal murder.

The suspense is riveting as Louis
discovers the truth behind Claudia's
purported death, as well as the present-day murder. Fans and newcomers to
this series will be captivated by the twists and the intriguing mystery. (Feb., 432 pp., $6.99)
