Laurens has created another incredible series connected to the Cynsters and Bastion Club. The marvelous adventure story is wrapped in an exciting plot built around a dynamic hero and a heroine whose depth of emotion reaches out to touch the reader on every level. Superb!

In the aftermath of Waterloo, four soldiers join the East India Company as special forces to maintain the peace in India. Their mission: capture a terrorist known as The Black Cobra.

Colonel Derek Delborough develops a plot to force the Cobra to go to England, but it entails risk to him and his shipmates. When he reaches Southampton, Del meets Deliah Duncannon, who wants him to take her home. When he's attacked, and her quick thinking saves his life, Del relents and takes her on his journey. Along the way they become enthralled with one another, but both are still wary, right up to the emotional and suspenseful climax. (AVON, Nov., 448 pp., $7.99)
