There is way too much happening in this short novella. The romantic suspense plot involving a vengeful drug cartel is a solid storyline, but when added to the extra spicy erotica elements, Until Midnight becomes a mishmash of action scenes interspersed with sex scenes that do not ever come together to create a believable story.

After rescuing a high-profile businessman, security agent Nicole Welles is taking a well-earned vacation. She is relaxing on a Mexican beach when the drug cartel that she thwarted comes after her looking for revenge. Fortunately ex-Mossad soldier Adam Molloy, who is also working to stop the drug syndicate, is able to save Nicki from a sniper’s bullet. Nicki and Adam both know the score — there may not be a tomorrow, so they concentrate on making every second count and a lot of those seconds are spent in bed. But when reality intrudes, the pair takes off on a globetrotting mission to bring down the cartel that wants both of them dead. (Ellora’s Cave, February 2011, dl. $8.90)
