This sequel picks up where Unspoken left off. While the novel continues in the same humorous gothic style as the first, it is more serious, with more trials to overcome. Readers need not fear, as Kami, armed with her reporting skills and unyielding determination, continues to take on everything thrown at her.

Once again Kami must stop sorcery from wreaking havoc in the town of Sorry-In-The-Vale. Rob Lynburn is intent on making the town exclusive to sorcerers, and his actions are tearing her family and friends apart. As if that wasn’t enough, Jared won’t talk to her and continues to be dark, brooding and just out of reach. (RANDOM HOUSE, Oct., 384 pp., $18.99, ISBN: 9780375870422, HC, 12 & Up)
