The director of a family crisis center and mother of 9-year-old DeDe, Kelly Bravo doesn't have time for romance -- or drama. Then her ex-lover, motivational speaker Mitch Valentine, passes through town -- and Kelly's compelled to tell him he's a father. Furious at first, Mitch sticks around to get to know DeDe and become reacquainted with Kelly. But their past could definitely keep them from having a future. Christine Rimmer's Valentine's Secret Child (2) has a likable, well-written heroine, but what she sees in the hero is a mystery. He's emotionally unavailable and unforgiving -- and the reasons given just don't excuse his actions.
