RT Rating

An interesting and intriguing addition to Sparks’ vampire series adds angels and demons to the mix. The continuing characters‘ stories are well integrated into a new romance and the fight against the familiar villains brings an end to some characters who will be missed and others it’s a relief to see the last of.

At almost 500, vampire Connor Buchanan is heading for a mid-life crisis. His job as bodyguard to the Draganesti family gives him purpose. He considers himself a cold-hearted old bastard, and since the cure for that seems to be getting happily married, he plans on staying the way he is. That is, until he rescues Marielle, an angel banished for disobedience, condemned to mortality, who accidentally causes the death of one under Connor’s protection. While Connor and Father Andrew believe Marielle can help the good vamps, not everyone agrees. As for Marielle, she’s falling in love with Connor, though she still wants to earn her way back to heaven — doesn’t she? (AVON, Apr., 384 pp., $7.99)

It is a wonderful story. It intertwines different elements such as redemption and danger and makes them into a compelling whole.

Connor Buchanan is a 499 year old vampire who has become desolate. He feels he has done and seen everything. He is carrying a burden in his soul that cannot possibly be forgiven.

Marielle is " an angel cast own from heaven for disobedience. Trapped in mortal form she finds a protector in Connor."

These two come together to teach each other some life lessons.

In addition in case you think the story is boring you are so wrong . Marielle just might hold the solution to getting rid of Casmir the evil vampire that wants to rule the world.
