Humphreys is undoubtedly a rising star in the genre, upping her game with the second fantastic book in this series. The characters are witty, sarcastic and a whole lot of fun, especially the heroine, who is trying to hide behind a fun-loving reputation. The sparks that fly between the leading couple are totally irresistible, and the tension that unfolds between the vampires and werewolves will have readers on the edge of their seats!
Vampire bartender Maya has had it with the rules that the Presidium keeps making. It’s taking all of the fun out of being a vampire. When she is allowed to take a job at a local strip joint, she is elated, even though her maker is sending along a bodyguard. Sentry Shane Quesada is none too happy to be babysitting the young vampire while she works at the sleazy club. Even worse is the fact that he cannot get her out of his head. With an unsanctioned visit from the prince of the werewolves and a legend surrounding the necklace owned by Maya, an epic battle is just waiting to erupt. (SOURCEBOOKS, Jul., 320 pp., $6.99)
