Something weird is going on, and it is up to half-human/half-Drow Nyx to figure out what it all means. The versatile and talented McCray is slowly unveiling a supernatural society fraught with menace and plagued by prejudice and discord. Her Night Tracker series continues to be fast paced and populated with intriguing characters. Hang on, for McCray is about to send things into overdrive!

PI/tracker Nyx is frustrated and suspicious. A gang of trouble-making sprites is attacking New York City landmarks and playing pranks, but is there more to this than malicious mischief? All too soon Nyx learns that vampires are involved, which means that master vampire Volod is definitely up to no good. As Nyx and the trackers try and sort out the mischief from the mayhem, Nyx begins to realize that Volod has a devastating plan in mind — one that could endanger all the supernatural races. As far as Nyx is concerned, she is going to drive a stake through this horrific plan! (ST. MARTIN’S, Dec., 352 pp., $7.99)
