Book Review

VEIL OF SHADOWS
by Shiloh Walker

Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy

RT Rating

Walker returns to the world created in her 2008 book Through the Veil. The action picks up shortly after previous events, turning the focus to two new protagonists. The gate between worlds has been shut down and the hero and heroine of this tale must deal with the fallout. Walker is an expert storyteller who builds this story with layers of passion, betrayal and menace!

Captain Laisyn “Syn” Caar’s newest job is sorting out the potential fighters among the refugees fleeing the demon-infested Roinan territory. Commander Kalen Brenner wants the refugees out, so that all his fighters can concentrate on vanquishing demons. Xan is a newly arrived refugee with a mysterious past. That he is a fighter is obvious, what his motives are … less so. Although the gate to Anquar is closed, several warlords remain on this side and are determined to find a way back — by whatever means necessary. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Sep., 300 pp., $7.99)
