VICTORY OF EAGLES
This fifth Temeraire novel continues in much the same fashion as its predecessors, with meticulous worldbuilding, interesting stories and one of the most compelling and beautiful relationships in fantasy today, that of Captain Will Laurence and his dragon, Temeraire. This is a memorable and gripping tale that will have readers on the edge of their seats.
Napoleon has invaded England, and it's not going well. At all. Temeraire has been relegated to the breeding grounds in Wales while Will Laurence,
his captain, has been convicted of treason and is being held on a prison ship as
surety for Temeraire's good behavior.
After Laurence's prison ship sinks and he's washed ashore, the English government allow him to search for Temeraire, who has created an independent militia composed of dragons. Once Temeraire is reunited with his beloved captain, they work to help rid England of Napoleon once and for all. (Del Rey, Jul., 384 pp., $25.00)
