Dean Grosso loves Patsy, his wife of 30 years, more than ... well, almost anything. He's spent his 25-year career craving a championship win, so he's conflicted when Patsy presents him with an ultimatum -- retire from racing or get a divorce. Will winning the trophy mean losing his wife? The conflict between the hero and heroine of Victory Lane (3) is weak and overshadowed by a more interesting romance/ feud. As the story progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to remain sympathetic toward Dean and Patsy, but Marisa Carroll still crafts a worthwhile read.
