THE VIKING'S DEFIANT BRIDE
by Joanna Fulford

Genre: Historical Romance
Sensuality: HOT
Setting: A.D. 867 Northumbria

RT Rating

Fulford's story of lust and love set in the Dark Ages is reminiscent of Woodiwiss' The Flame and the Flower. A suspenseful plot, well-developed characters and a passionate romance combine to keep readers engaged from start to finish. The authentic depiction of the historical setting adds to the enjoyment of this short but evenly paced story.

Viking warrior Earl Wulfrum wants revenge on the heathens who murdered his adoptive father. When his army captures the Saxon stronghold of Ravenwood, he feels vindicated and is determined to make his home there. He doesn't take into account that the current occupant is a beautiful woman determined to work with the rebels to regain her home and land.

Wulfrum takes Elgiva as his wife and, against her will, she falls in love with him. She's torn between her love for him and her loyalties to her people, and Wulfrum is equally torn, fearing she'll ultimately betray him. (HARLEQUIN, Feb., 288 pp., $5.99)
