Book Review

by Adriana Trigiani

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary Young Adult

RT Rating

Mainstream fiction author Trigiani's foray into YA is a well-written coming-of-age novel. She portrays the life of an average teenage girl well, and a lot of girls could probably relate to Viola. But the plot is a little dry, and readers may find it difficult to really connect to the other characters.

The last thing Viola wants is to get shipped off to boarding school in Idaho, leaving behind Brooklyn and her best friend, Andrew. She wants to live her dream of filmmaking at home. But once she gets there, Viola makes new friends and even gets a boyfriend. However, when things go wrong at home, will she be able to deal?
