VIPER MOON
by Lee Roland

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

A decaying Missouri town is ground zero in the battle between two powerful entities. Roland hits the ground running with an impressive debut that contains an edgy, dark energy. The atmosphere is suitably eerie, which will keep readers on the edge of their seat as things definitely go bump in the night! If Viper Moon is any indication, the Dark Huntress series holds great promise!

For most humans in Duivel, Mo., the area called the Barrows barely registers and they certainly avoid it — for good reason. The Barrows function as a trap to keep the dangerous entity known as The Darkness from escaping. It was Earth Mother who formed the magical barrier. Cassandra Archer is the Huntress for the Earth Mother and her job is to rescue children who have been taken into the Barrows’ deadly tunnels. Detective Flynn doesn’t believe in magic, but when his little sister is kidnapped, he is desperate. Crime boss Carlos Dacardi is also desperate, as his young son has also been taken. To save these kids, Cassandra will have to make some odd and potentially dangerous alliances. (SIGNET ECLIPSE, Jul., 352 pp., $7.99)
