Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

CSI meets Nancy Drew meets sci-fi in this action-packed murder mystery. Reichs delivers everything a teen fan of CSI could ask for, with a nice contradiction of sci-fi elements and scientific fact. Add in friends and crushes, and you have the recipe for a great YA novel.

When Tory’s mom dies she is sent to live with the father she’s never met on a remote island where he does research for a university. She learns of the family she never knew, including her famous aunt, Temperance Brennan.

Tory and her friends discover some mysterious dog tags on a neighboring island, and the curious teens set out to investigate. When they break into a lab to use cleaning tools on the dog tags, they discover one of the island’s wild wolf-dogs being used as a lab test subject. They rescue the pup and uncover a decades-old murder that someone powerful wants covered up. (RAZORBILL, Nov., 456 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9781595143426, HC, 12 & Up)
