Book Review

THE VIRTUOUS KNIGHT
by Margo Maguire

Genre: Historical Romance
Setting: 1257, England

RT Rating

Following the tragic death of his family, Alexander Barton is on a mission to bring a sacred relic from the Holy Land to safety in England before he takes his final vows.

Crippled Lucy Kendall has been living with the Sisters of Crachaven Abbey ever since she was orphaned. While traveling
to a new abbey, Lucy and the sisters are attacked, and Lucy alone survives. Alex, her savior, now feels responsible for her and agrees to see her safely to the abbey. But the journey is rife with trouble. Alex saves her from one predicament after another, leading them both to question what they desire.

There is charm to this tale of people starting out on different roads and ending up on a new and better one. Though the pacing is slow and readers might enjoy the hero and heroine having a thorough conversation earlier in the story, these are memorable characters whose story plays out against a well-researched backdrop. SENSUAL (Nov., 304 pp., $5.50)
