Author(s):

Vitro is a mysterious cross between science fiction and everyday life. Although the plot is slow in places, the action soon picks up and is interspersed with a deeper meaning about how all families are different in their own way. A well-written and worthwhile read, this high-action book is perfect for the geek in you.

Having been left behind, all Sophie knows about her mother is that she is a scientist on Skin Island. Now Sophie wants answers, and she will do anything to get them. With the help of Jim, a pilot, she starts out on the adventure of a lifetime. She didn’t expect the island to be inhabited by other scientists. There’s a mysterious corporation, Corpus, taking test-tube embryos and giving them life. Sophie makes a startling discovery about one of those former embryos that makes the situation harder to process. (RAZORBILL, Jan., 384 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9781595146052, HC, 12 & Up)
