In book one of the Hawaiian Heroes series, Cade has taken the lush scenery of Hawaii and embellished it with a new twist on the legend of Pele. This fast-paced tale takes place in less than a week, with most of the action happening over a two-day span. While this limits development of the heroine’s backstory, readers will root for Melia while wishing for a hero like Malu.

After catching her boyfriend cheating, chef Melia Carson keeps her vacation travels intact and heads to Hawaii. Throwing caution to the wind, she accepts an offer from Dane Gifford, a man she met at her hotel, and joins his friends for a snorkeling expedition off Kona. Traveling with the group is Malu, a friend of the crew. Melia and Malu sense an immediate connection, but with two other women attaching themselves to him, Melia gets the wrong impression. When an injured Malu claims Dane attacked him and one of the women, Melia stays behind to treat him as the rest of the group rushes to the hospital. Discovering that Malu is a warrior for Pele, patroness of the Hawaiian Islands, Melia helps him prevent Dane and his drug-dealing cronies from corrupting the beauty of the islands and its people.
