Best known for her medieval romances, Maguire begins a fantastic new trilogy about time-traveling warriors on quests through time in search of a sacred object and true love. The multitalented author has a great start to what looks to be an exciting series.

When Brogan MacLochlainn, a powerful Druzai warrior on a mystical Atlantis-like island, learns his father has been killed by an evil sorceress, he travels to the future in search of an ancient blood stone that will help defeat his enemies.

Sarah Granger has had enough to deal with since her employer's death. The new heir is about to throw her and her charges out, and she is penniless. She doesn't have time for an arrogant, pompous Scotsman more interested in ancient ruins than
in her. But the attraction between
them is too powerful to be denied.

But Druzai law forbids warriors from mingling with Tuath women, so Brogan sets out to find Sarah a husband who will admire her spirit and her beauty. His efforts are all for naught when he realizes he wants her for himself, the law be damned. (Avon, Jul., 384 pp., $5.99)
