The second book of the Outlaw Chronicles is a moving and relatable tale about trust, forgiveness and letting go. Dekker’s unique style of writing draws the reader into the story, as difficult as some of the incidents may be to stomach. It’s a gorgeous look at one facet of the faith journey.

Thirteen-year-old Alice Ringwald has no memory of events prior to six months ago. She is placed with a loving foster family, but her world is upended once again when a man claiming to be her father breaks in and kidnaps her. Despite the efforts of the FBI, Alice, who her parents claim is actually named Eden, seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth. As she experiences life with her family on the bayou, Eden endures the unimaginable until she is able to break free with the power of forgiveness. (WORTHY, Mar., 304 pp., $14.99)
